Interesting feeds

As I still have nothing fairly exciting to post at all (!!! frustration!), I will share some random, interesting links that I hope will equally interest and intrigue you all.

♥ I'm sure I've mentioned Her Morning's Elegance before, but I can't seem to find it right now in my archives. So here it is again, in case I'm hallucinating and I actually haven't mentioned this song at all in this blog.

Liza of College Fashion just posted up an entry on the Top 5 Bras Every Collge Girl Should Own. Quite informative, I must say! I myself don't own all five. But I will, my dears, I will.

fbomb is a "young feminist blog" that I've recently been reading and liking. I've never really thought much of feminism or being a feminist or anything of that sort, but I really do enjoy the insight that the writers give on various topics ranging from rock and roll camps, dancing, TV shows, artists, and all sorts of other things. I don't think I quite understand yet, what being a true feminist is (I feel rather silly admitting that, especially since the creator of the blog is a 16-year old high schooler who stands firm in her views), but maybe I'm getting there. Slowly, but surely.

Little Women, by Lousia May Alcott, is one of my favorite novels of all time. I love love love it. I can't even describe how much I adore it. I love all of Alcott's works, but I particularly love Little Women more than all the others. I think it's just something about the story and the lives of the four sisters that just grabs my attention. Though I've read it time and time again, as the worn covers clearly show, some parts never fail to make tears well up in my eyes or make me smile at the quirky little details. I know the story from cover to cover, but it's still a favorite and I never tire of it.

♥ Longing for many 2010 calendars already. I never had a proper 2009 one, so maybe that's why I'm looking so hard for the perfect calendar(s). Wanting a Hello Kitty one, New York, San Francisco, and Italy. And most importantly, an Art of Zen one! Like this one! Or this one!

Anything catching your eye recently, my lovely readers?

Slips

Hasn't been anything much to write about lately. My days have been slow and boring.

On a brighter note, I hope you all had a great Labor Day weekend and snagged some great deals at the stores! I know I did. I especially love the new canvas sneaks I bought from Urban Outfitters

In fact, I like them so much that I'm thinking of going back and getting the taupe ones. Maybe. We'll see if they're still on sale...

And while we're on the topic of fashion, lately I have: signed up for Chictopia, DIYed an I♥NY shirt, bought a waist-cinching belt, and finished my September inspiration/style board. Just a few random tidbits! Will be trying to share the board with you all soon!

Daily Outfit - September 1, 2009

Hello!

It's September! Gasp. So soon? We are fast approaching the end of the year...already! Anywho, the weather has been acting up lately. Still super hot, sun shining brightly and all that. Oh, that was a lot of 's's in that last sentence. Anywho, a simple outfit again, since I don't like getting too layered up and fancy on days where I'm prone to sweating. Sorry for the bad pictures of me. I was squinting because the sun was so gosh dang bright and I didn't want to stay out there taking more pictures since the heat was getting to me. But y'all get the main idea of the outfit and that's what's important!

Daily Outfit - August 29, 2009

Woohoo! Another daily outfit. After a few weeks of nada. A simple outfit today. I don't know about you guys, but there is major heat wave-age going around where I live and it definitely makes life much more difficult. I step out of the house and it's this massive rush of hot air coming at me. (It doesn't help much that it's hot and windy at the same time. Who doesn't love hot air blowing around them in the middle of summer?) The inside of my car is burning because my little Celica is black, and black doesn't fare well with the sun. Also I have leather seats. Yeah...not good when it's burning hot and your legs are bare because you're wearing shorts. But anyway, the hot hot heat called for a simple, loose outfit. I put on a tee, pulled on some shorts, slipped into some sandals, and declared myself ready to go. Oh, and I pulled my hair back into a ponytail so my neck wouldn't sweat (eww!) and didn't even think about putting on make-up. I'm not one to like make-up sweating off my face. Who is? So this is what I went with today. And yes, I know it doesn't look like the sun's beating harshly down upon me, but these pictures were taken as the sun was starting to set and it was finally a tad bit cooler outside. Enjoy the last of August, everyone! Stay cool!

The board

I've been wanting to make an inspiration/style board for Fall '09, and I'm slowly mapping out what I want to see when I look at it. Runway styles for the fall, quotes, pictures of friends, and little odds and ends. I've never made an inspiration board before, so this will be quite and adventure for me. A little project to keep me from wallowing in boredom until school starts. I picked up a bulletin board today from Daiso. (By the way, you all should check out this store if you can. Everything is $1.50! Sometimes they have a few products that cost a little more, but at my local Daiso, everything is $1.50! Amazing!) Now I just need some nice pushpins so I can start pinning up my inspirations. Do any of you have inspiration boards? What would you put on them? What inspires you? I can't wait to see how mine turns out!

Petroglyphs!

So. There's this place called Petroglyphs. It is a.ma.zing.

I've been there twice in the last couple of weeks and I absolutely love it! Let me explain. Petroglyphs is a "paint your own ceramics" place. They have many items to choose from, from mugs to fairies to treasure boxes to plates to pitchers to cupcakes. You pick any item you want to paint, and you basically just decorate. Customize it. Make it unique. Make it yours. The staff can teach you different techniques to use on your pieces, and there are so many colors of paint and tools to choose from. After you're doing painting and decorating, you hand it over to the staff and they take it to the back room to glaze and fire it. Your piece is ready for pick up in a few days.
You pay for the item that you choose (prices range from around $7-$50, approximately) and you pay for a "day pass" at the studio. The pass pays for all the brushes, stencils, stamps, paints that you use, and you can come and go as you please. It can get a bit pricey, but they do have frequent firers cards (buy 3 passes, get 1 free). Please check out their website for more info and pictures! The pictures in their galleries are so pretty! Some of the artists/makers are so very talented.

My chopsticks bowl!

Still at the studio. Un-glazed and un-fired.

P.S. Sorry I've been missing for so long! I've been out of state visiting the boy for almost a week. It was fun, just chilling and spending lots and lots of quality time together. (We only see each other about four times a year!) Now I'm back and hopefully will have some more regular posts coming up.
